One morning, while digging, the veil lifted...

With a flash from insite, I understood that I had just become open to performing in a theatre production.

Untill that very moment, the thought of performing on a stage had never

crossed my mind.

I even mused about whether my role would feature my favorite little word...it.

About an hour later, Nadirah, my constant friend, came by excited about a play

she had just been cast in.

I marveled, while she wondered,

whether they might need another actress.

That evening, I was cast in the role of Mattie.

The first line of the play was her first line,

and my debut.

"You better go out there, and get it."

One morning, that following September, the telephone rang,

and I was offered the opportunity

to perform a monologue.

The thoughtz of the director were on me

while she read Rupert's Birthday.

The lines were all ready, and personall.

IT was like a light comin' on in a dark room.

I saw it. It came to Life. Life came to it.

The idea of performing a monologue inspired me.

I felt for it, then, and continU to feel reckonized.

More--much more--needed to be said about The All-of-it.

Immediately, I set to work hammering out--on an office manuall typewriter--the skeleton of a monologue

now entitled:

Give IT Some Thought.

I all-sow knew something new.

I could do it.

There's More To Rain Than Just Water

was performed at The National Black Theatre in Harlem, NYC on August 18, 2001.

Stacy Waring gathered together wonder-full actors who did a fantastic job on a 100+ degree day.

Everyone--my mother included--enjoyed the performance, and understood that there is more to IT.

The cast left knowing that, one day, they would be able to say they were

there the first time The ALL-of-it was a staged performance.

Sadly, on this day, due to the complications of a stroke, Tunde Samuel passed on

into more from Life. He is missed, but still in the game
